IBM RS/6000 7044 44P (Model 170 and 270)
System Type: 7044-170
System Type: 7044-270
Released in 2000 as both the RS/6000 7044 model 170 and larger model 270 (both using the same motherboard but different chassis), they were built using the POWER3-II and could support up to a whopping 8 GB of RAM (which would have been unthinkable back in 2000 for the intel world). They're fairly ubiquitous towers when it comes to the RS/6000s as many were sold between 2000 ~ 2003, especially the Model 170. IBM had been supporting them at least up until 2005 as the last firmware package is dated from that year.
